Boyd-Clowes: 4-Hills is a dream

Boyd-Clowes: 4-Hills is a dream

Last summer young Canadian Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes could attract some attention with his good results. The athlete from Calgary won two FIS Cups, was on the podium in the Continental Cup and was 13th in the Summer Grand Prix in Courchevel.

These are the best results of a Canadian ski jumper for a long time. Despite these good performances Boyd-Clowes didn’t take part in an international competition so far this winter and will make his first appearance this season at the 4-Hills-Tournament. A reason for that are problems during the preparation earlier this winter.

“One month ago in November I think we had more jumps on snow than any other team in the world. Then, due to some bad luck in Calgary with the weather and the hill preparations, we haven’t taken one jump since December 2nd. It should be interesting to see how well mentally prepared Mackenzie is”, head coach Gregor Linsig explained to FISskijumping.com.

“I’m ready to have fun”

“We didn’t have enough early snow training in Calgary, so this will be my first jumps for December. But just like in the Summer Grand Prix, I’ll be ready to have some fun”, told Boyd-Clowes and the results this year give him self-confidence.

“Courchevel showed myself and Team Canada that our program is working and we can be in the hunt, that was an incredible feeling. We are working on building up, gaining World Cup spots for more of our talented athletes and focusing on the goal of Sochi 2014″, the 20-year-old said to FISskijumping.com.

4-Hills-Tournament is a dream

Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes will take part at the 4-Hills-Tournament for the first time, a special moment for the Canadian. “The 4-Hills is a dream. It’s what we all look forward to growing up since we were little seven year old ski jumpers all over the world. I’m focused on my performance, but hope to look back on an amazing experience at this historic event.”

At the 4-Hills-Tournament Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes will be the only Canadian competitor, but this shall change in the future. “I do plan to introduce some jumpers, like Eric Mitchell into the World Cup later on this season. Let’s wait and see how January goes first”, said Linsig.
