The following is general information only concerning the selection criteria for determining which athletes will participate in out of town competitions and training camps. Coach’s discretion may be used for final selection of any traveling team.

Ski Jumping Canada – Competition & Travel Selection Criteria

Ski Jumping Canada is responsible for selecting teams to represent Canada in International Ski jumping events. Teams may consist of zero athletes and will be named based on the athlete’s ability to achieve the following selection criteria.

All selection will be done on Normal and Large Hill results, except where noted.

Prerequisites:

* Athletes must be in good standing with SJC as well as their provincial sport association and club.

* Athletes must pass all doping control tests.

* Athletes must complete KPI provided by Coaching Staff

Canadian World Cup Quota – 2 athletes for Individual events, 4 athletes for Team events

Canadian COCJ Quota – 4 athletes

Canadian LCOCJ Quota – 10 athletes (4 athletes in Financial Quota)

Canadian JWSC Quota – 5 athletes

US SuperTour, NA Juniors and US Junior Olympics Guideline – 10 – 12 athletes

All SJ/NCNTC Athletes are eligible for all competition trips except where age restrictions are listed.

Olympic Winter Games

· Athletes must achieve the SJC/COC Olympic Selection Criteria.

World Cup & Olympic Winter Games

· Coach must feel it will be a positive experience

· Maximum two or four athletes

· Athletes must have scored COCJ points in 2004/05 or 2005/06

· Athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Jan 2006 SGP, WCJ, COCJ, SuperTour and Club Competitions)

· Athletes must be competitive on COCJ

JWSC – Men

· Maximum 4 athletes

· Athletes must be born 1988 or later (to be confirmed)

· Top 3 athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Dec 2005)

· Athletes must score 90%back or better.

· Coach’s choice zero to 1 athletes to complete team

· Preference is to send a full team if all athletes can score 180.0 points or higher.

JWSC – Women

· Maximum 4 athletes

· Athletes must be born 1988 or later

· Top 3 athletes with the best results in qualifying competitions (July 2005 – Dec 2005)

· Athletes must score 90%back or better.

· Coach’s choice zero to 1 athletes to complete team

· Preference is to send a full team if all athletes can score 160.0 points or higher.

COCJ

· Maximum four athletes

· Athletes must have previously scored COCJ or FIS Cup points.

· Period 1 – Coaches Choice, all athletes who have previously scored COCJ points will be given access to at least 4 events.

· Period 2 – Athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Oct 2005)

· Period 3 – Athletes with the best results in competitions (Oct 2005 – Dec 2005), currently not budgeted

· Period 4 – Athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Dec 2005), currently not budgeted

· Period 5 – Athletes not selected to Olympic Team with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Jan 2006), currently not budgeted

· Period 6 – Athletes with the best results in competitions (Dec 2005 – Feb 2006), currently not budgeted

· Athletes must score 85%back or better

Ladies COCJ

· Summer Period – Europe Summer events – Maximum 2 athletes, Coaches Choice, using 2004/05 Winter results and June 2005 Training performance. (will train & compete with USSA Team coach)

· Summer Period – USA Summer events – Maximum 6 athletes

· Athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Sept 2005)

· Athletes must be able to score at least 135.0 points on the K90 (max inrun speed 89 km/hr)

· Winter Period – Maximum 4 athletes

· Athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – Dec 2005), currently not budgeted

· Coach must feel it will be a positive experience

· Athletes must score 85%back or better

North American Juniors (Park City)

· Maximum total of 12 athletes Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined

· Top 6 ski jump athletes with best results in competitions (July 2005 – Feb 2006)

· Top 6 Nordic combined athletes with best results in competitions (July 2005 – Feb 2006)

· Athletes must be born 1986 (Nordic combined) and 1988 (ski jumping, to be confirmed) or later

· Coaches choice to fill team

· Athletes must score 80%back or better

US Junior Olympics (Lebanon)

· A maximum total of 8 athletes representing Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, Male and Female will be selected to represent Canada (e.g. 2 male SJ, 4 male NC and 2 female SJ).

· Athletes must be born 1990 or later

· Ski Jumping, Male

· All athletes should be selected as Nordic Combined athletes in order to maximize our competition opportunities

· Coaches choice zero to 2 athletes

· Ski Jumping, Female

· Top 2 ski jump athletes with best results in K63 qualifying competitions (Jan 2006 – Feb 2006

· Count best 3 of 4 jumps

· Athletes must score 85%back from top eligible athlete or better

· Nordic Combined

· Top 4 Nordic combined athletes with best results in K63/5km qualifying competitions (Jan 2006 – Feb 2006)

· Count best 3 of 4 jumps plus two 5 kilometer events

· Athletes must score 85%back from top eligible athlete or better

· Coaches choice zero to 2 athletes (male of female).

European FIS Cup (most likely a maximum of two trips)

· Maximum 4 athletes

· Top 3 athletes with the best results in competitions (July 2005 – October 2005)

· Athletes must score 85%back or better, ineligible athletes removed

· Coaches choice zero to 1 athlete

· Coach must feel it will be a positive experience

SuperTour events in USA (Lake Placid – Oct, Park City – Jan, Steamboat Springs – Mar)

· Maximum athletes depends on size of vehicle

· Athletes with the best results from the competitions (July 2005 – February 2006)

· Coaches choice zero to 2 athletes

European Training – National Team Training Group

· European Training will be done in conjunction with Competition Trips.

· Current planned Training Camps:

· Ramsau, Austria – January, pre-JWSC

· Zakopane, Poland – January, pre-Olympic

North American Training

· North American Training (Park City, Steamboat Springs, Lake Placid) will be done for a specific purpose i.e. pre-World Cup/COCJ Training Camp, so selection will be determined by Competition Selection Criteria.

· Current planned Training Camps:

· Park City or Steamboat Springs – November, pre-WCJ/COCJ

· Park City – January, SuperTour
