Position:
- Nordic Combined Coach (based out of Sea to Sky Corridor, British Columbia, Canada)
Job Description:
To include, but not restricted to:
- Actively coach existing ski Jumping (SJ) and Nordic Multi-Sport programs for Sea to Sky Nordics (S2SN) in winter and summer
- Actively develop, promote, and support new Nordic Combined (NC) programs in other locations in BC, Alberta, and eventually, other Canadian Provinces and Territories
- Actively recruit new athletes into the sports of NC and SJ
- Promote, develop and run training camps, based in the Sea to Sky Corridor, for prospective NC athletes, from across Canada [these programs will begin as hybrid programs including NC and SJ athletes, with the primary focus on developing NC athletes]
- Be available to travel internationally or domestically, with athletes, for training and/or for competitions
- Work closely with the Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Canadian Provincial Team Head Coach and SJC’s Development Manager
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Strong interest and experience in Nordic sports (XC skiing, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Biathlon)
- [It is recognized and expected that some candidates may not have experience in all 4 Nordic Sports]
- Coaching credentials (NCCP or equivalent) in Ski Jumping and/or XC skiing
- Experience working with young athletes (minors) and their parents
- Familiar with Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Program model
- Willing to work towards increasing credentials and experience in both Ski Jumping and XC ski coaching
- Possession of Driver’s License to equivalent of, at minimum, BC Class 5
- Willing to undergo a Criminal Record check in the Province of British Columbia, Canada
- Participate in all safe sport requirements applicable to the position=
- Valid Canadian passport
Duration and Timelines:
- This position is intended to be full time (40 hours per week), year-round, where the coaching duties may vary season to season, between active coaching duties and recruiting/promoting/planning and programming activities
- Other time commitments (ie: less than full time) may be considered depending on the candidate’s strengths and other life commitments
- Vacation time will be negotiated on a yearly basis, hopefully to fall primarily in shoulder seasons
Salary and Reimbursement:
- This is a contract position subject to terms and conditions of a full contract to be negotiated and signed prior to hiring
- Salary range will be $40,000 – $65,000 yearly, depending on experience, credentials, and time commitment (full time, ¾ time, etc.)
- Salary may be augmented by additional coaching/instruction employment in Nordic Sport, at local venues.
