Taylor Henrich wins first Canadian women’s ski jumping medal
Taylor Henrich became the first Canadian woman to capture a World Cup ski jumping bronze medal placing third in the competition in Oberstdorf, Germany.
The 19-year made history on Friday by becoming the first Canadian woman to win a World Cup ski jumping qualifying round before finishing fifth in Saturday’s first event.
Henrich came into the competition in strong form after winning gold and silver in Continental Cup competitions, a level below World Cup, in Falun, Sweden. After placing first in qualifications. Taylor improved her 93 meter jump in the final to 95.5 metres moving her to the historic World Cup bronze medal finish.
