Ski Jumping Canada Development Manager
Ski Jumping Canada is looking for a passionate leader interested in a one-year contract position as a Development Manager. Reporting to the Board of Directors of Ski Jumping Canada (SJC), the Development Manager will work with SJC and the Provincial Sport Organizations (PSO) across Canada to build additional clubs and develop a pathway for Ski Jumping athletes and coaches.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Development Manager will report to and work collaboratively with the SJC board to develop and execute a plan to: To build a minimum of four new clubs in Canada and run successful camps at those clubs by March 31, 2024.Develop and communicate to stakeholders (athletes, parents, coaches, partners) a pathway for ski jumping athletes, coaches in Canada;Facilitate training development and mentorship for coach contractors within Provincial and Club ski jumping programs. In addition, this position will: Liaise with other Nordic and winter ski sports clubs across North America to promote the sport in general;Liaise with FIS as part of the collaborating nations and in implementing the World Snow Day;Liaise with government officials in the area of sport, venue operators and Canadian Sport Institute locations across Canada in the development of clubs;Contribute to the development of SJC’s strategic plan | |
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Provide leadership in
- The development of new clubs and PSO’s within Canada by enhancing and implementing the club in a box model;
- In conjunction with SJC, PSO leaders and clubs, provide leadership and expertise in:
- Coach education and the linkages with the Coaching Association of Canada
- Facilities design and upkeep
- Acquisition and maintenance of ski jumping equipment;
- The development of Canadian Ski Jumping athlete pathway; linking it to the Long-Term Athlete Development Plan
- The enhancement and development of training venues within Canada
- In conjunction with the SJC accountant, manage the budgeted items related to this project;
- Create and promote a positive culture of excellence within the coaching and athlete groups of Ski Jumping Canada including safe sport and anti-doping programs put forth by SJC;
- Assist clubs with securing grant funding for capital or operational expenditure;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
AS the Development Manager, you bring the following skill set to Ski Jumping Canada:
- An equivalent combination of education and experience in Sport Management, Communications and Coaching;
- Strong understanding and ability to articulate the Long-Term Athlete Development Plan as it relates to athletes and the coaching of athletes;
- Proven ability to understand and navigate the provincial regulations, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, etc. for club start up and risk management;
- Ability to plan, design, implement and manage programs;
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong administration and financial management skills, including the ability to prepare and manage budgets and to set up key performance indicators to measure success;
- Strong business writing and presentation skills;
- Proven ability to work with the following communities: Black, Indigenous, Racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, Low Income, Persons with a Disability and Newcomers.
- Ability to travel domestically;
- Ability for written and verbal communication in both official languages is preferred

Terms
One year contract position at $80,000.
